Healing and Comfort

All referenced scripture is attached at the bottom in mp3 format for your listening pleasure!
I need to give credit to www.firefighters.org for their work of providing the entire bible in mp3 format for free to the general public!
I have used their bible verses in assistance on every page where scripture is quoted.

There are so many hurt people out there and we all need to be healed in some way. It's just mind boggling as to the amount of hurt there is. Our love as a people has grown so cold for each other.  What ever happened to the old days when you could drive by someone and they would wave? People on the street would say hello or smile at you. Now we seemed to be so preoccupied with ourselves or the crimes that are going on that we can't seem to bring ourselves to be as friendly as we used to be.

It is a truly sad state of affairs. But, I am a victim of my own circumstance too, and when your depressed or feeling rejected, even though you love yourself, how can you reach out to love others?

I only thank God that I am able to enjoy each day in a good standard of health. We all need to feel healthy both mentally and physically, but mental health really can be interpreted spiritual health.

If you know you are spiritually peaceful then it translates down into your physical being.

A good healthy relationship with Jesus Christ is the essence of a peaceful day. No matter how busy, burdened or emotionally distraught we are, if we can just take a few minutes and reflect on the peace that God gives and really grasp the reality about it, then we can begin to let go of our burdens and anxieties and rest in him.

John 14:26,27 But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you. 27 Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

How much comfort is in those verses if we truly believe and know that God does not lie?

He keeps every promise he ever made.

All we have to do is learn how to apply that to our lives.

First of all, if you are not a born again Christian, than you can't be sure that these promises apply.

So many people say, well I just don't understand the bible? Well it's because they don't have the Holy Spirit inside themselves and so none of this is possible. No wonder they are worried all the time, can't find peace and seem to be left in the dark. You can't experience that true indwelling and spiritual completeness unless you have that personal relationship with Christ.

Healing comes with knowledge, knowledge and understanding is freely given of God when we ask, but there’s that qualifier again! Does the Holy Spirit reside inside of you? It is a free gift if you know how you get it. It is the best gift on this earth to help people through their lives, there is nothing to compare to it.

The fourteenth chapter of John is one of the most assuring chapters you can read. Jesus gives us his promise of the Comforter for our whole life. What's better than that?

John 14:15,16 If ye love me, keep my commandments. 16 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;

Wow, what a promise, can we rest in that?

We need to be able to visualize Jesus in our life, sitting on our couch or holding our hand and saying these things. We have to have absolute confidence in HIS Word. If you don't have that, the only suggestion I can give at this point is to have first hand knowledge of a miracle in your life or the life of a close friend. Then you can feel that you have a more tangible piece of evidence to bring assurance to you.

Jesus told us in Matthew 11:28-30 Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. 28 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.

He tells us we can find rest unto our souls. Is that a sure promise or what? Knowing God is the same yesterday as he is tomorrow and he changeth not, we have to know that his word is his word.

Highlighting John 14:27 But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.

This is wonderful. How does he bring His word to our remembrance? We have to read it. Yes, his word is living water and it washes us as we read. The Word is a powerful tool to assist us through all things. It cleanses our souls, renews our minds, directs our feet and covers us in love.

Wow, what more could we ask for?He says the Holy Ghost will teach us all things. Talk about having an edge or as they say the home court advantage! As we are able to read, rest, and meditate on His Word, we also open our souls to the teaching that only comes through divine infiltration. Just think a built-in teacher.

This is where we have to learn to listen to that small voice of the Lord in our lives. I have learned through experience and confirmation that God's promise in this area is as good as gold.

Until you learn how to exercise this feature that we have with God, it will plague you, because you will constantly doubt. Do we have to stick our fingers into his wounds or side to know, like Thomas?

To sum it up, we need to develop good prayer habits, good listening habits, and most of all, make sure our daily diet is nourished by his Word.

The best time is just before we go to bed. That way the Word can be uninterrupted by the noise of the world and it has a period of time to settle in our minds before we layer other information on top of it.

If you're not a born again Christian, become one today, by sincerely saying the prayer of salvation below!

****                                          ******
Dear God,                                 I now know
I have needed                             you and have
rejected your calling,              so today, right now,
I ask Jesus Christ to come          into my heart and my life,
and forgive me from all past sin and Lord cleanse me from
my unrighteousness. I want you forever more to be my
guide and I want to follow you as a believer. I ask for
your strength to change my heart and my earthly
ways so that I can become a better child in
your kingdom. Show me how to depend
on you in all things. I thank you
and pray this prayer in
the name of Jesus
Christ, Amen!
