Serving Christ

We Serve A Powerful God!

I need to give credit to www.firefighters.org for their work of providing the entire bible in mp3 format for free to the general public!

I have used their bible verses in assistance on every page where scripture is quoted.

Sitting here I felt overwhelmed in writing this for those of you who need it. I have seen close friends who just didn't seem like they were happy for some reason and this is a mystery!

You see, these friends are serving God in a full time capacity and they had a hard time smiling. As a child of God, we should only have momentary lapses in our happy lives.

No matter what it is, on a minute to minute or a day to day basis that brings you down or feels burdensome, you have to be able to set it at the feet of our Lord and Savior!

Don't go around looking like you just ate a lemon or your best friend died. (Unless your best friend did die!)

You see, when Jesus said, my yoke is easy and my burden is light, HE really meant it. We are not supposed to allow our daily activities, especially if they are serving Him full time, to weigh us down. Everything is in God's hands, He knows the past from the future and we are to rest in that fact!

There's nothing we can't release into His hands and watch Him work. We have to be confident that in all things, He will work His will for our lives, and then you can relax and smile because you know that a competent Lord is in charge of the events in your life.

If any situation is getting you down, first, stop, take a deep breath, submit it to God, have a moment of realization, and then let it go! Jesus didn't say "work to do my will," He didn't say, "my yoke isn't easy and you might get stressed and my burden is heavy," he didn't say "just do it," he didn't say "do my will, work hard at serving me, and I might help you."

No, he said in Matthew 11:28-30 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. 29) Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. 30) For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.

Here's an interpretation of that verse,
Come unto me all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. This in a nutshell tells us that we can rest in our Lord, he will take our worries if you know how to give them to Him. He doesn't expect us to be laboring or heavily burdened. So if you are serving Him, and you are stressed, or under heavy burdens, you need to pass the torch to someone who was meant to do that for Him.

Often times we take on responsibilities that we ought not to, in the name of serving Christ for our church or organizations.

People, we need to pray about these things, and if you can't do it without feeling burdened, then you probably weren't meant to do it. And this thought goes deeper, but sometimes, churches and organizations do things that aren't God's will for them and then they burden people in that way wanting to make the process succeed.

If an organization can't find the right people to do what is needed, then they need to re-pray about it and make sure God has given them the right direction! When His will is carried out accordingly, He will provide the right volunteers to do the right duties without them feeling burdened. The church has to ask God to provide in this area and if He does, it's His will for it to be done! If He doesn't provide the resources, then your probably not in His will, your in someone else's will and it isn't going to work!

29)
Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.

In this verse, what Jesus is really telling us is that HE does not have high expectations for us to meet, (live up to), and that we can have confidence that He can handle our burdens if we can only lay them at His feet!

30) For my yoke is easy and my burden light.

This my dear friends this is telling you that you are not to struggle doing God's will. You are not to make it a job, if you can't relax while doing it and smile and enjoy it, then your serving in the wrong
capacity.

In conclusion: What we do in our daily lives to serve our omnipotent, omnipresent God should not be a burden to us and if it is, you are serving in the wrong place. Our God is a God of forgiveness and someone who doesn't call us to do things that we can't enjoy for His sake. Sometimes we get too busy trying in our own capacity doing His will, and we end up doing our will, not His. You need to always pace yourself when called into God's service to do His will and bring glory to His kingdom! It's not work if your serving in the right capacity.

THE VOCATION OF THE NATURAL LIFE

But when it pleased God ... to reveal His Son in me ...

Galatians 1:15-16

The call of God is not a call to any particular service; my
interpretation of it may be because contact with the nature of God
has made me realize what I would like to do for Him. The call of God
is essentially expressive of His nature; service is the outcome of
what is fitted to my nature. The vocation of the natural life is
stated by the apostle Paul - "When it pleased God to reveal His Son
in me that I might preach Him" (i.e., sacramentally express ) "among
the Gentiles."

Service is the overflow of superabounding devotion; but, profoundly

speaking, there is no call to that, it is my own little actual bit
and is the echo of my identification with the nature of God. Service
is the natural part of my life. God gets me into a relationship with
Himself whereby I understand His call, then I do things out of sheer
love for Him on my own account. To serve God is the deliberate
love-gift of a nature that has heard the call of God. Service is
expressive of that which is fitted to my nature: God's call is
expressive of His nature; consequently when I receive His nature and
hear His call, the voice of the Divine nature sounds in both and the
two work together. The Son of God reveals Himself in me, and I serve
Him in the ordinary ways of life out of devotion to Him.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
My hope for you is that you have had a prayer of salvation,
and if you haven't and you want to ask Christ into your heart and life,
then I offer these words for you to repeat,
but only if your heart is sincere,
because God knows it if you're not.
****                                          ******
Dear God,                                 I now know
I have needed                             you and have
rejected your calling,              so today, right now,
I ask Jesus Christ to come          into my heart and my life,
and forgive me from all past sin and Lord cleanse me from
my unrighteousness. I want you forever more to be my
guide and I want to follow you as a believer. I ask for
your strength to change my heart and my earthly
ways so that I can become a better child in
your kingdom. Show me how to depend
on you in all things. I thank you
and pray this prayer in
the name of Jesus
Christ, Amen!
