A Devoted Life IN Christ

From the time we wake, to the time we lay our heads down, we can live a devoted life in Christ, In the Spirit.

God has in mind His perfect will for our lives, if we know how to give our lives to HIM. Self will, has to be sacrificed. This doesn't mean we won't be successful. It will probably mean we won't be in charge of everything we think we ought to be in charge of.

Philippians 2:3-8 says this, "Let nothing be done through vain glory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others (sic)  better than themselves. 4) Look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others.

5) Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: 6) Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: 7) But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: 8) And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.

What is self-sacrifice?

It is giving our daily life to God, to do with what His Good pleasure is. If you've read any of my other pages, you'll eventually read the part about living an honest life before God. This is where self-sacrifice begins. Once you have accomplished that, nothing is impossible in Christ. This has to be our first goal in our spiritual walk.

I can't stress enough, an honest walk, but also an honest conscience, and sincere heart. Even when we sin, no matter what it may be, we can always count on God's best for our lives, because we are living in the light of HIS Spirit.

So now, back to the dedicated life in Christ. Everyday is a new day. Jesus gave us the perfect prayer, Matthew chapter six. This should be our endeavor to pray this prayer as often as we are led to pray it in the morning. That doesn't mean you should stop short of not including praise, and thanksgiving. It also means you pray to HIM in your own way, asking for your own desires, needs and concerns, while thanking HIM for the things both good and bad, that have allowed you to grow in spirit and in truth.

Yes, believe it or not, we need to thank God for those things which we hated, that may have happened in our lives. Everything happens for a reason, and everything has a valuable spiritual lesson attached, if we care to pay attention to it. Enough said about that. Just remember, as we roll out of bed each day, we can live our lives according to our self-will, or we can live in the light and obedience of God and the Holy Spirit which is embedded in us because of our born again nature.

If we develop a consistent pattern of giving each day to Christ, He will open doors of opportunity that would have evaded you in a normal situation and frame of mind. Prayer is an important key to your success. Everything we do, no matter how minor it is, should be prayed about.

At the same level, everything that happens in our life, no matter how minor it seems, we need to thank God for it, good or bad. We need to do it right away and not at the end of the day or week if we can remember. God is in you, and with you, every moment of every hour. HE IS, omnipresent. Don't think for a moment that you are alone. Let me remind you of this verse:

Romans 8:35-39 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? 36) As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter. 37) Nay, in all things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us. 38) For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, 39) nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of Christ Jesus our Lord.

Prayer is the key to our success.

But not only prayer, but putting on the "Armour of GOD!"

Ephesians 6:10-18 says, "Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. 11) Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. 12) For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. 13) Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. 14) Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; 15) And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; 16) Above all taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. 17) And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: 18) Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;

Romans 12:11,12 Not slothful in business; fervent in prayer; serving the Lord 12) Rejoicing in hope; patient in tribulation; continuing instant in prayer;

Luke 2:37,38...

Proverbs 15:8 The sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination to the Lord: but the prayer of the upright is his delight.

Proverbs 15:29 The Lord is far from the wicked: but he heareth the prayer of the righteous.

Proverbs 28:9 He that turneth away his ear from hearing the law, even his prayer shall be abomination.

Matthew 21:22
And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive.

You can see how important prayer is to our spiritual walk with God in Christ Jesus. If we are lead by the Spirit, we will have victory. Now, not only recognizing the spiritual leading is important, but also, preparation for the goals that we feel we need to accomplish in our personal life, are just as important and will become a part of God's will, as long as you are living an obedient life in the light of God's Holy Spirit. Our life becomes paralleled with HIS will as long as we are open before our Lord. We need to be prepared for the direction He may lead us in, but that doesn't mean we can't have a direction that the responsibilities of this age force us to adapt to.

Direction in our lives.

So many people think if they were to give to God every moment, every waking breathe, that they would have to give up many things and maybe even live a sheltered or restricted life. This is not the case at all. God knows our responsibilities to maintain our level of living within a certain means or comfort level. I tell you, God will not normally open the door of opportunity for us unless we are ready for it. That could mean in a number of ways: mentally, spiritually, emotionally, having the ability to trust in HIM in an insecure or unforeseen future. It can also mean intellectually, educationally, and physically. We have to be in constant prayer about our direction, about our future, and especially about our walk.

You can be faced with any number of decisions at any time and you need to prayerfully give it to God and lay it at HIS feet, with the attitude that you will not take another step until you get the signal, the urge, or the spiritual gut feeling that you should go on to the next step or in a certain direction. Once you have developed that intimate relationship with God through Jesus Christ, the Holy Spirit thru prayer, you will know when the still small voice of God through the Holy Spirit pushes you forward in the direction HE wants you to go. Now, the bible says to be wise as serpents and harmless as doves. Thus with the armour of God fully mounted, we can recognize the false openings and false leadings of the devil.

Psalms 19:7-14

7 The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple. 8 The statutes of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart: the commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes. 9 The fear of the LORD is clean, enduring for ever: the judgments of the LORD are true and righteous altogether. 10 More to be desired are they than gold, yea, than much fine gold: sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb. 11 Moreover by them is thy servant warned: and in keeping of them there is great reward. 12 Who can understand his errors? cleanse thou me from secret faults. 13 Keep back thy servant also from presumptuous sins; let them not have dominion over me: then shall I be upright, and I shall be innocent from the great transgression. 14 Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O LORD, my strength, and my redeemer.

My hope for you is that you have had a prayer of salvation,
and if you haven't and you want to ask Christ into your heart and life,
then I offer these words for you to repeat,
but only if your heart is sincere,
because God knows it if you're not.
Dear God, I now know I have needed you and have
rejected your calling, so today, right now,
I ask Jesus Christ to come into my heart and my life,
and forgive me from all past sin and Lord cleanse me
from my unrighteousness. I believe that Jesus was
crucified for my sin, died, and was buried and rose from
the dead according to the scriptures. I want you forever more
to be my guide and I want to follow you as a believer.
I ask for your strength to change my heart and
my earthly ways so that I can become a better
child in your kingdom. Show me how to depend
on you in all things. And show me how to do
your will in my life. I thank you and pray this
prayer in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen!
