IN SPIRIT & IN TRUTH

There's a way of practicing our walk with Christ and there's a way of living our Life!

That way is in
SPIRIT AND IN TRUTH!

Let's take a look at what the Word Of God says about it.

In the Book of Isaiah 11:1-10 It is prophecied thus:

1 And there shall come forth a rod out of the stem of Jesse, and a Branch shall grow out of his roots: 2 And the spirit of the LORD shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD; 3 And shall make him of quick understanding in the fear of the LORD: and he shall not judge after the sight of his eyes, neither reprove after the hearing of his ears: 4 But with righteousness shall he judge the poor, and reprove with equity for the meek of the earth: and he shall smite the earth with the rod of his mouth, and with the breath of his lips shall he slay the wicked. 5 And righteousness shall be the girdle of his loins, and faithfulness the girdle of his reins. 6 The wolf also shall dwell with the lamb, and the leopard shall lie down with the kid; and the calf and the young lion and the fatling together; and a little child shall lead them. 7 And the cow and the bear shall feed; their young ones shall lie down together: and the lion shall eat straw like the ox. 8 And the sucking child shall play on the hole of the asp, and the weaned child shall put his hand on the cockatrice' den. 9 They shall not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain: for the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the LORD, as the waters cover the sea. 10 And in that day there shall be a root of Jesse, which shall stand for an ensign of the people; to it shall the Gentiles seek: and his rest shall be glorious.

I can't wait!

In the book of Zechariah in the 8th chapter the Word of the Lord came unto the people and it was sown and it was a forecast of things to come, and this is part of what that WORD said:

Zechariah 8:13-17
13 And it shall come to pass, that as ye were a curse among the heathen, O house of Judah, and house of Israel; so will I save you, and ye shall be a blessing: fear not, but let your hands be strong. 14 For thus saith the LORD of hosts; As I thought to punish you, when your fathers provoked me to wrath, saith the LORD of hosts, and I repented not:

15 So again have I thought in these days to do well unto Jerusalem and to the house of Judah: fear ye not. 16 These are the things that ye shall do; Speak ye every man the truth to his neighbour; execute the judgment of truth and peace in your gates: 17 And let none of you imagine evil in your hearts against his neighbour; and love no false oath: for all these are things that I hate, saith the LORD.

SO HE was saying that TRUTH IS the only way of life and that the house of Israel and Judah had to live by the Truth!

Jesus had an encounter in Samaria which was also called Sychar with a woman at Jacobs well. And after a bit of small talk
Jesus said unto the woman:

21 Jesus saith unto her, Woman, believe me, the hour cometh, when ye shall neither in this mountain, nor yet at Jerusalem, worship the Father. 22 Ye worship ye know not what: we know what we worship: for salvation is of the Jews. 23 But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him. 24 God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.

We can take away two things from these verses, first, look what Jesus says in verse 22, he says, basically, you don't even know what your worshiping, and the woman replies, they were worshiping according to the Jewish orthodoxy at that time because the WORDS of Christ had not been spread abroad and the truth had not been heard!

Then, secondly, Jesus went on to tell her the TRUTH, and that was that the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him. 24 God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.

What was Jesus refering to?

He was telling her that they did not have the Truth, nor did they have the Holy Ghost!

The first time the Holy Ghost was given was to the disciples in John 20: 19-22 - 19 Then the same day at evening, being the first day of the week, when the doors were shut where the disciples were assembled for fear of the Jews, came Jesus and stood in the midst, and saith unto them, Peace be unto you. 20 And when he had so said, he shewed unto them his hands and his side. Then were the disciples glad, when they saw the Lord. 21 Then said Jesus to them again, Peace be unto you: as my Father hath sent me, even so send I you. 22 And when he had said this, he breathed on them, and saith unto them, Receive ye the Holy Ghost:

Here are three questions for you.

    1. If we aren't living according to the truth, what is the substance of our lives?

Simple answer for this question is, if we aren't trying to live according to the truth, we will live in error and we will feel that at any time we don't have to speak the truth!

    2. What is the substance of our Faith?

The simplest answer to this question is, knowing God is the essence of Truth, He does not lie, Jesus didn’t lie nor did he live a dishonest life and lie, so we can have confidence that we can believe everything Jesus said, and everything that was written about him.

John 21:24,25 - 24This is the disciple which testifieth of these things, and wrote these things: and we know that his testimony is true. 25 And there are also many other things which Jesus did, the which, if they should be written every one, I suppose that even the world itself could not contain the books that should be written. Amen.

What is the substance of our Worship?

If we’re living a life of obedience to the WORD of TRUTH, then we will be worshiping God from our spirit, in spirit and in truth, not having any guilt to separate us during that time.
