The Covenant of
Marriage
Why is it these days, that the time they spent
nightly,
The promises made, so many take lightly;
Engaged in relational talk and discovery,
A man and a woman reveal what their life be;
Two hearts that you know have been longing to be,
To meet at the alter, to create a new family;
But how have their mother and father so taught,
This couple that marries will soon get distraught;
Because they discover that there's no fidelity,
Just interests and things that brought them
familiarity;
In haste they take flight to withdraw from each
other,
And really it's God that they need to discover;
We're human and born into sin and to shame,
But God is the one that has called us by name;
From the beginning he's set us apart,
So Jesus could live in a place in our heart;
Through Jesus love and submission he died,
On the cross for our sins, we can no longer hide;
Our creator has made us so we'll be complete,
And he gives us strength so our trials we beat;
Mistakes we will make as our life passes by,
We learn through the pain of life that makes us cry;
In everyday life there are measures we meet,
If we don't learn the lessons, mistakes we repeat;
The point that I'm making is don't run away,
From the lessons in life that we learn everyday;
From person to person we just won't admit,
The mistakes in our life, that were part of it;
Denial is common, cause people are proud,
They blame someone else cause their heads in a cloud;
They can't see their self when they look in the
mirror,
But, God knows their heart, and the message is clear;
Humble yourselves and own up to your faults,
Then with maturity, don't do the waltz;
Stand and be counted as one who can bear,
The troubles you caused and the many that care;
With humility, we need to examine our self,
Putting our pride and our blame on the shelf;
Accept were not perfect and turn from our ways,
And with Jesus help you can see better days;
If we don't give the Lord full control in our life,
Then everyday we will face trouble and strife;
We need to love unconditionally,
So that we can find the same you and me;
Respect for you dwindles, when you can't confess,
Your lack of true knowledge has made such a mess;
Humble yourself before God and your wife,
Get saved and read God's Word, and clean up your life;
The words under oath before God that you've spoken,
You fight, but forgive, so your vows won't be broken;
The contract of marriage is a covenant, no less,
Your hearts before God become one, it's a test;
Your unabashed love, that by vows you've committed,
Must never be thrown in the trash or omitted;
Your word is your word or have you been lying,
God knows your heart, and in sin you'll be dying;
Stand firm in His Word and don't you ever doubt,
Through trials and troubles trust me, it works out;
The virtue of faith is in patience, my friend,
Will God find our faith when he comes at the End? By Mark Aldrich (c) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
My hope for you is that you have had a prayer of salvation,
and if you haven't and you want to ask Christ into your heart and life, then I offer these words for you to repeat, but only if your heart is sincere, because God knows it if you're not.
Dear God, I now know I have needed you and have rejected your calling, so today, right now, I ask Jesus Christ to come into my heart and my life, and forgive me from all past sin and Lord cleanse me from my unrighteousness. I believe that Jesus was crucified for my sin, died, and was buried according to the scriptures. I want you forever more to be my guide and I want to follow you as a believer. I ask for your strength to change my heart and my earthly ways so that I can become a better child in your kingdom. Show me how to depend on you in all things. And show me how to do your will in my life. I thank you and pray this prayer in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen!
